Tickets Available for “Fair Hill Turf Showcase”

The Maryland Jockey Club (TMJC) today released ticketing and pricing details for the upcoming “Fair Hill Turf Showcase” at Fair Hill in Elkton, Maryland, on Sunday, May 24, and on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.  General admission to each day of the historic event is $23 per person. Box seats can be reserved for $274, and the VIP Hospitality section is $329. A full tailgating experience is $438. All ticket pricings include fees and taxes. *General Admission includes access to the event grounds, free parking, and an official event program. Guests can enjoy live racing from open viewing areas throughout the venue. Children 14 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

The Future of the Maryland 5 Star Moves Ahead: Select Event Group Working to Obtain License for 2027

In March, EN announced that the Maryland 5 Star would not go forward for its sixth year in October of 2026. The CCI3*-L and USEA Young Event Horse East Coast Championships were confirmed to be viable to still happen, and we can now fully confirm that Select Event Group has submitted its application to lead organization of the CCI3*-L this year and for the return of a CCI5* to Maryland in 2027.

Rodman Moorhead Passes

Rodman Moorhead, who owned the 2021 Steeplechase Eclipse Award winner The Mean Queen, died Dec. 17. Hailed as a “remarkable leader in education, healthcare, and philanthropy” by The Taft School where he was a member of the Class of 1962, he was also a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School and a venture capitalist with Warburg Pincus in New York. He was a longtime board member of Stroud Water Research Center, the International Center for Journalists, and Chair of The Taft School’s Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the Foxcatcher Society of the Fair Hill Foundation and the Board of Directors of the Cheshire Hunt.

Ross Peddicord

Ross Peddicord, who served as Executive Director of the Maryland Horse Industry Board (MHIB) during a period of economic growth in the state’s equestrian competition and recreational riding sector, retired after 14 years on Jan. 1. The board was instrumental in jump starting improvements at Fair Hill and helping to win the bid for the Maryland 5 Star event.
