Event part of Maryland Horse Month to Preview Inaugural International Three-Day Eventing Competition at Fair Hill’s Newly Constructed  Special Event Zone in Cecil County

The Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill “Virtual Event” is taking place this week because the inaugural event was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual event will feature daily content providing viewers with a preview of the international Three-Day Eventing competition that will become one only two 5 Star rated events in the United States, and seventh worldwide.

Footage will include interviews and remarks from notable constituents including Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan, Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill organizers and partners, as well as top Three-Day Event riders. The virtual event will also showcase exclusive footage of the newly constructed Special Event Zone at Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area in Cecil County that will serve as the venue for the Maryland 5 Star. The world-class facility features a new cross-country course and new dressage and show jumping arenas. Highlights from a test event in August showing competitors using the venue for the first time will be included in the virtual event’s coverage.

Governor Hogan proclaimed October “Maryland Horse Month,” recognizing the abundant historic, recreational, therapeutic, and economic contributions made by the state’s horse industry. 2020 is the first year that all of Maryland’s premiere equestrian sporting events, the Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill Virtual Event, the Preakness Stakes and Jim McKay Maryland Million Day are being held in the same month due to scheduling changes in response to the pandemic.
