Elkton, Md. – The Cecil County Breeders’ Fair and Fair Hill Foundation today announced the addition of Friday racing to the 85th Fair Hill Races. Brown Advisory will serve as title sponsor of this year’s milestone event taking place May 24-25 at Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area.  Friday’s card features two training flat races and two timber races and will not offer parimutuel wagering. Entrance to Friday’s races will be free and feature craft beer tastings along with food and drink options available for purchase.

Fair Hill Races’ 85th Anniversary celebrations will also feature a gala after the Friday races to highlight the milestone and upcoming improvements to Fair Hill’s turf course and other equestrian facilities. The cocktail reception begins at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and remarks presenting the historic venue’s planned improvements.

Brown Advisory will be serving as the 85th Fair Hill Races’ title sponsor. The annual day of racing continues Saturday, May 25 and wagering will be offered for the seven races on the card highlighted by the Valentine Memorial Handicap Hurdle and the Iris Coggins Memorial Stakes for fillies and mares.

“The addition of a Friday racing card will give more people the chance to attend the Fair Hill Races and participate in the 85th Anniversary celebrations,” said Nancy Simpers, President of the Races, and member of the Fair Hill Foundation.  “We are also excited to highlight the improvements coming to Fair Hill that will enhance the venue, so that we can continue to host great events like this in the future.”

On Saturday, the Fair Hill Races tailgate contest will judge contestants on their 1920’s themed costumes. This year’s theme pays homage to Fair Hill founder, William du Pont and the construction of the turf course in the late 1920s – originally modeled after Aintree in England. The day also features a ladies’ hat contest, children’s crafts, stick pony races and other activities.  Tickets can be purchased at FairHillRaces.org.
